Regrettably in the 1980s dock strikes were still a fairly regular occurrence.When Southampton took action the large container ships diverted to Greenock.This was taken on a grey December day in 1981 as HAPAG/S FRANKFURT EXPRESS berthed.These were the giants of their day at 50000grt.
