The Royal Navy fast fleet tanker RFA Wave Ruler has seized 2.9 tonnes of cocaine - her third drugs bust in as many months bringing her total haul to a staggering eleven tonnes.

This latest seizure makes her officially the most successful British drug busting ship in recent years.

I don't think the RFA lads will take too well to that!
If even the RN website can't get it right, I mean, really...

From the site:

These ships (RFA Wave Ruler and RFA Wave Knight) are fast fleet tankers capable of replenishment at sea of warships, and with the ability to meet future fuel requirements plus provide a platform for future helicopters.

They are electric ships - which means they are driven by an electric motor, powered by diesel generators - and take advantage of the latest propulsion control technology.

A double-hulled design helps to prevent pollution should the outer hull sustain damage. Their cargo will be mainly Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants (POL) and they replace the O Class ships, Olna and Olwen.

The vessels have been built to commercial standards with military requirements incorporated where necessary. The contract was placed with what was then Vickers Shipbuilding and Engineering Ltd (VSEL), now part of BAE Systems Marine Ltd, in March 1997.

We were sitting in the Port of Gibraltar looking at the RFA Wave Knight and discussing the recent activities of her sister ship re her success with the drug seizures - when some one suggested that if the RN sold the drugs back to the market we could have a much bigger navy, maybe 12 x Daring Class!!!
Whaddya reckon??
