I recently visited Kilcreggan, on the Clyde, there is a framed photograph of the Clan Lamont on the shelter at the end of the pier. It was built 1900 and scrapped in Bo'ness in 1929. I have had a look at some of my books and on the net but cannot find any connection with Kilcreggan. unfortunately the piermaster wasn't there so I couldn't ask him. Does anybody know what the connection is between the ship and Kilcreggan?

The photograph on Kilcreggan Pier is of the turret deck steamer Clan Lamont. Her bell is used a a fog bell and used to hang by the photo but was put out of reach of light fingered people. Sir Charles Cayzer had a house in the neighbouring village of Cove, so that would probably be the connection.
