She was the first fully cellular container ship to visit New Zealand in 1971. The cranes were removed in later years and I think she was converted to diesel at some stage. She and her sisters had a long life in the NZ trade and I often wonder what finally happened to them.

They were probably scrapped in the begnning 2000s ,with the same name.

To set the record straight:
Columbus New Zealand was scrapped in Alang, India - September 1998
Columbus Australia and Columbus America were scrapped in China - June 1999.
All 3 vessels retained their original names until scrapping.
