| About Me |
Born Greater London of Orcadian parents. Moved, through exigencies of war (father army Major) to Kent, Edinburgh, finally Orkney (Stromness). Five primary schools. Secondary school Stromness. Medical training Edinburgh, graduated 1955. National Service 1957. Married UK's youngest hospital Ward-Sister (age 22. If you know one younger . . ?) Both of us liked Service life, stayed 31 years. Fifteen postings, many detachments: Middle East, Far East, Continental Europe, Africa, Maldives, Falklands, etc etc. Twenty-four family addresses. Retired in rank of Air Commodore. Settled Stromness. Three offspring; all have lived, or still live, abroad: more reasons to visit 'new' countries (USA, South Africa, Namibia, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Israel, Dubai etc). Widower since 1999. Have girlfriend (who is hardly a 'girl' - she wouldn't mind me saying - but is very definitely a friend). |
