| About Me |
I have been a shipping enthusiast for most of my life an interest formed initially by my grandfather, who was an engineer on the Newhaven - Dieppe service, and subsequently by the experience of my first ever Channel crossing aboard the lovely1928 built SS Worthing in early 1952.
My travels have taken me around the world and over the years I have sailed on a great many different types of ship and boat ranging from the QE2 down to a 41 ft Swan Nautor sailing yacht and right up to and including an example of the new breed of cruise liner - the Norwegian Jade.
My favourite ship was the Stefan Batory a vessel with an inexplicabe but palpable atmosphere that always made you feel welcome. The most beautifully decorated ship I ever boarded was the Royal Mail liner Alcantara, whose interiors were exquisite.
Trips aboard the Boeing Jetfoil Normandy Princess and the Hoverspeed Great Britain to France gave me a taste of the future for sea travel.
All in all I have had a great time thanks to the seafarers and others who have given me so many years of sailing and traveling pleasure. |
