About Me	Merchant seaman 1936 to 1956- sailing as AB and Bosun. First 4 years in coastal sailing barges - shipwrecked three times in them during bad weather.. Then joined the Merchant Navy Reserve Pool at Tilbury and sailed in 17 cargo ships- 12 tankers -2 troopships - 2 coasters.. Campaigns - North Africa,Sicily and Normandy.. Torpedoed and air attacks. Left the sea and became a ships rigger in Thames area for 30 years. Founder member of Gravesend Merchant Navy Association in 2000..
