[edit] How to upload filesTo upload an image, click Upload file in the list of links to the left of your screen (below search, between 'related changes' and 'special pages'.) For more information see the help section on managing files. Your image will be uploaded with the name that you give it, and therefore it is always a good idea to name the file descriptively - for example 'A particular big ship.jpg' rather than 'DSC0001.jpg'. You can then include the image in a page using the name of the image, eg [[Image:A particular big ship.jpg]]. For example....

If you add a pipe (|) and some text after the filename, the text will be used as alternative text for text-only browsers:
If you don't want to display the image, you can link to the file's description page, by adding a colon:
