Introduction
Court Line has used the name Ilvington Court for two ships:
- Ilvington Court (1) - a cargo ship completed in 1911 as Dalebank
- Ilvington Court (2) - a cargo ship launched in 1919 as War Sniper - the subject of this entry.
Ilvington Court (2) had a working life of 21 years, although she was laid up for some of this time. She was torpedoed and sunk during WW2.

Sinking
Ilvington Court (2) was torpedoed and sunk by Italian submarine Dandolo of the Marcello Class, in position 37.14 N, 21.52W with the loss of 8 crew members whilst on a passage from Pepel to Glasgow.
Postscript
Dandolo survived the war and was, according to External resource #3, "discarded" on 23rd March 1947.
