Royston grange

The Royston Grange was a fully refrigerated cargo ship built for Houlder Brothers by Hawthorn Leslie (Engineers) Ltd at Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and in tragic circumstances was destroyed by fire after a collision in the River on 11 May 1972. Her entire crew, together with three relatives and ten passengers were lost and she was the first British ship to be lost with all hands since World War II..

Outwards bound from Buenos Aires towards Montevideo on the night of 11 May she was in collision with Tien Chee, a Liberian Tanker. On 27 May she was towed into Montevideo, declared a Constructive Total Loss. She left Montevideo 27-03-74 in the tow of the German tug Hansa, arriving at Barcelona on 20 May 1974 and was demolished six months later.
