For the sextant work... using left eye was fine... and helps to balance...

The 'Lecky' was the one going around 'lamping'.

'Lamps' used oil in his job.... in lamps and lanterns ..... but both Lamps and Leckys could both be 'well oiled'!

I think the only way to check for Needles is to go back through Admiralty List of Lights from 1945.....

Needles Lighthouse built 1851. The stone was plain without any colour stripes. Easy one.

But if I am trying to be helpful.... I would call it the 'fore end' as in 'Forward End of the Superstructure.' ...
