Introduction & Help Request

Good day y'all.

My name is Glenn Clarke. I'm an Ex British MN 'Sparky' (RO), who worked for Marconi Marine and Kelvin Hughes, between 1969 and 1972 (inclusive).

During that time, I sailed on:
MV Benhiant (Ben Line)
MV Steyning (Stephenson-Clarke)
MV Texaco Cardiff and MV Texaco Plymouth (Texaco)
MV La Sierra (Buries Markes)

I lived in Oklahoma, USA, and was enrolled at Oklahoma University for 8 years, studying architecture and earth sciences.

In OK, I was an architectural design consultant, with my own business: G. Robert-Clarke Design. I still design buildings, but now as a hobby and for friends and family only.

I am now retired as a consultant to the oil & gas industry, specialising in deep water mooring, FPSO and SPM systems.

Since I am now retired, does anyone know if I'm eligible for any pension payments from the MN? Where do I start? Any advice would be appreciated.

Great to be here, and look forward to chatting with some of y'all soon.

Kind regards

Glenn

Good morning Glenn,

I would expect you to have benefits under the old section of the MNOPF - suggest you try mnopf.memberenquiries@mnpa.co.uk.

Surprised you would not be having annual summaries 'though.

Thanks OM.

I was off-the-grid, while in the States. I've also lost my discharge book and seaman's card. Typical sparky, either drunk or crazy. I'm a little of one, none of the other. Time and retirement will tell which one's which.

We appear to have some common history (such as age!). This isn't the place to chat, but I will later. I will try the link you suggest, and revert.

Thanks again.
Glenn

Thanks OM.
Good to be aboard. I'm already benefiting from my membership, by talking to you; we obviously have at least one thing in common.

I'll let you know of the outcome of my enquiries.

Kind regards
Glenn

Thanks Gulpers (Ray?)
Mixing proverbs...I like it. However, even the wrong answer is an answer. It's the trying that counts.
I've holidayed in Bangor many times, but have not made it to Ynys Mon yet.

P.S. Love your avatar! Where did you get it? G

Hi OM. Thanks for the warm welcome.
Only just joined SN, and am already loving the site.
I spent a couple of days ashore, in Manila, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I was RO on the MV Benhiant at the time, working the 'Star Run'.
Hope we chat soon.
