MV Gustav Maersk grounds in Messina Strait!

For those that haven't yet seen the report in GCaptain the details are available here:- http://gcaptain.com/maersk-container...outhern-italy/ .

No mention of a pilot onboard or mechanical malfunction in the Maersk statement. This is a navigationally high risk transit for large vessels due to strong currents and generally avoided using the safer alternative route around Sicily. Be interesting to hear why it happened?

Perhaps they stacked the containers too high and they could not see where they were going.

Maersk the company seems to be loosing its way, not just this ship.
