Ian S. ex Houlder Bros and Furness Withy

Hi
I was reading the Houlder gas ships threads, and remember some of the names.
I am ex Clerk Maxwell 81-83, Lord Kelvin 83-87, Humbolt 88-92, Joule 92, Faraday 92, and then went to NIS LPG / ethylene vessels where I still am.
I had some good times on those ships, and still remember Gooba with the toilet on his head on the black max for the fancy dress party.
Brgds
Ian Storey.

If I remember correctly it was a hat party and I`m sure I was there.

Hello Ian... been searching around this forum and then saw your name...followed shortly by a mention of Gooba and Tony I hit gold. Remember Faz with the beer-can cardboard box 'crown'?

Hope you are well Ian, Tony... happy memories. You will no doubt shudder at the memory of your favourite dipstick

Give me a shout out if you check this forum... although I realise your post is a couple of years old. Life's good here and after 10 years of self employment, followed by over 20 years in academia I am looking at retirement to sunnier climes. What are you up to?

Ex: Dunster, Humbolt, Black Max, Joule, Faraday, Elstree, Canvendish, etc, circa 79-87

Best, Steve, aka dippo

Hi, I assume it is Steve Kirkby at the other end of this. And on the good old Black Max long time ago. I was looking at a photo of some of us fishing off a jetty in Lake Maracaibo, and I am sure you were there.
I am still at sea, now 20 years with Solvang, mainly ethylene tankers, but on a newish LPG now. I will carry on here for another year or two while the legs are still good.
I was in Ecuador recently and passed Sam Shaws house in Guayaquil. Dont know if he is still around. There was no answer at the door.
I have a photo of the Joule from around 1991 which I will post soon.
All the best
Ian.
