Smile Hello

Greetings! I joined Ships Nostalgia only a couple of days ago. I was a Marconi Radio Officer 1969-1974 and served on: Benalligan Ben Line) King Jaja and Oduduwa (Nigerian National - coast only, thank goodness) Rapallo (Ellerman Wilson) Chicanoa (Fyffes) Bridgepool (Ropners) Esso Oxford, Kohinur (Haines/BI) Uganda (P&O) Kohistan P&O) Ikeja Palm (Palm Line). Would be great to hear from anyone who knew me or knew these ships.

Kohistan

By the time I got on board Kohistan in 1974 she had been absorbed into P&O General Cargo Division. Don't remember the R50 but that could be my memory. I did a round trip to the Arabian Gulf on this one.

Strange how one memory kicks off another. The shack had a porthole onto the bridge and there was a bespoke "shutter" to bung into the port to avoid light spilling out. A grumpy skipper wouldn't call the Mersey pilot on VHF but insisted I use 2Mhz.
