Bolton Steam Shipping Co.Ltd

In the 1970's Bolton's had 3 ships Rossetti, Reynolds, Reubens all built at Tempse in Belguim. I worked on all 3 and would like to know what happened to them, also if anyone knows where i could obtain scale drawings to be able to build a model.

Cannot help much with your enquiery but have a few photos of the Reynolds and Rubens. Sailed on all 3 (Rossetti, Reynolds and Rubens) 1974-1980. Believe Boltons were taken over by a yanky outfit.
Regards,
P.Charnley.

"Reynolds" - still operating as the "Zhong Yue 1" under Chinese flag, owned by Hong Kong Zhong Xin Shipping Co. Ltd.

"Rubens" - scrapped China 6/2001 as "Med", Turkish flag. Unknown owner.

"Rossetti" - scrapped China 12/98 as "Yiling" Saint Vincent flag, Chinese owned (Guangxi Ocean Shipping Co).

Thanks so much on the searching question that has been haunting me for quite a number of years.

Smile Welcome

coxh,

A warm welcome to the site from the Isle of Anglesey, I guarantee you will thoroughly enjoy the SN experience!
I am sure that someone will be able to advise you about scale drawings – in the meantime, have a good look around the site.

I did my apprenticeship with Bolton's, but in those days they were real ships with those strange things called Derricks and winches, and locking bars to keep the canvas hatch covers in place.

In 1982 Bolton's was purchased by Ted Arison, he of Carnival Cruise Line fame, and managed his Nosira Shipping (Nosira being Arison spelt backwards) which owned three 31,000 ton dwt bulk carriers "Nosira Lin", "Nosira Madeleine" and "Nosira Sharon", which I seem to recall were named after Arison's daughters. The company withdrew from shipping in 1989.

Hi,

My first trip to sea as Junior Sparks was on the Rubens in 1980, spent 6 months on her.
Great Lakes - Europe and paid off in Livorno. Sorry, I don't have any plans.

Regards,

Ken
