All contributions welcome if you can add anything else to her history.
That info did put me on to this picture of her when she was with Adriatica Line so she is the same one. But stuck again as to her history when she was the KAWTHER which seems to have Middle East origins to the name.
She is indeed the former Enotria.
She was renamed Kawther under the Cypriot flag but apparently never used.
she ran aground just outside Pireuas in the last day of 1979, on her way to the shipbreakers. She was declared a CTL and I suppose that she was soon removed and scrapped.
Hi Aristo,
Im interested to find out what happened to the Enotria...I sailed on her from Venice to Cyprus in 1971 and feel very sad she ran aground in 1979 on her way to the shipbreakers...She obviously wanted a more dignified ending!! Also, what does CTL mean please? Do you know any other details about her please?
Many thanks
rafanna
She had a sister MESSAPIA, here at Genoa 1969. Messapia went on to sail as ZAMZAM, but I have no idea of her "final destination." I sailed on her Israel-Italy in January, '67
I sailed on the Enotria from Venice to Israel in 1970 as a passenger with my Mum, and did the return trip six weeks later on the Messapia.
Had a short romance on the way out, but came back unwell with glandular fever so spent most of my time in my bunk ;(
We sailed from Genoa on her to Beirut in 1958, taking the car with us.
