It is a long time since there was a Clan Line thread - come on lets justify this space!!
The Clan MacGregor met her fate on 9th November 1982, with a fire onboard whilst named ANGELIKA R The location is given as 33.45N/33.15E apparently she was then towed to Greece where she was broken up. Does anybody out there have any more info on this sad demise?

That puts her south of Cyprus, approx one third of the way across to Suez. Anybody know her voyage details ?

She was on voyage from Mersin to Karachi and Bombay with a cargo of 8,650 tons of lentils and chick -peas.broken at Laurium september 1983

Where the hell did you get that info? I tried loads of searches and nothing.
I sailed on her three voyages, the saddest was from Manchester to Barry, paying off on 22nd November 1981, I think it was the last voyage by a Clan vessel and the last convential cargo ship to visit Manchester. Whilst in Manchester the new owners were onboard, they marked all the engineroom piping with felt pen indicating what pipe was what. As soon as we sailed this came off with the heat and they were back to square one! Your sketch is excellent, do you have any more Clan ships?

Thank you, got all the other info but was interested in the demise. The MacGregorand the MacGillivray were great ships and it is sad to see them go so quickly and in that fashion. The last of a long breed.

Think the Macgregor was the last clan voyage, did see the Mcgillivary later than that, Clan Macboyd I think she was called, she was in Hodeidah when I was there on Balmoral Universal which was ex Clan R reefer. Not exactly sure of year probably 1980. Macboyd was never used by Clan Line as far as I know.

When the MacGillivray was sold it was renamed the Clan MacBoyd owned by Gateway Shipping Co, Hong Kong. Although she was sold after the MacGregor she was not in service at the time and would have been scrapped if not sold, so my reckoning the last voyage of a Clan ship was the MacGregor from Manchester to Barry

I also remember seeing Clan Macboyd off Hodeidah while on Balmoral Universal, but it would have been around April 1982 and part way through a voyage between Brest and Sheerness via the Cape.

We must have both been on there, I hadn't realised it was as late as 1982

This is the last time she sailed as Clan MacGregor in 1981. I did the last ocean going voyage on her.

i tried sending you a private message but was told you are not accepting same.

I sailed on the MacGregor a couple of times, the last as 4th engineer, joined on a coastal on 30/10/1981 and left in Barry I think on 19/11/1981. The new owners sailed with us to Barry from recollection.
