Hi everyone. Hoping to pick some peoples brains on this one

Can anyone shed any light on what happened to the Freshburn?

Info: " Fresh " Class DY tank vessels.594 tons.
126 X 25 and a half feet. 14 vessels all built by Lytham SB Co. Freshburn 29 10 1943.

we believe she was based at Portland and sunk as a target sometime in the 1970's. Can anyone shed any light on her wherabouts or what happened to her?

I havent found much o the freshburn yet but there is a sister ship still afloat she is the freshspring now laid up at newnham on the north shor of the river severn 12 miles west of Gloucester and only a 10 miles from me

She was sold to Dutch breakers Rijsdijk-boss at Hendrik-ido-Ambacht in 1982 for £6,125. She left Chatham on 11 April 1982 for scrapping. Apparantly she had been a salt water tank for some years prior to her scrapping and was the only one of her type still in service with the RFA.

Most of the Fresh Class started life as RFAs before transferring to Dockyard manning under the Victualling Department in 1946.
Three of them, including Freshspring, went there straight from the builders.
Any which survived past about 1975 would have been prefixed RMAS.

morning steve-done some homework on this vessel,was towed abroad--not the wreck your thinking of.look on the mafia,i think i put it on there
