Autolycus, SAINT BRIDGET in Falmouth
Has anyone any information on the AUTOYLCUS and SAINT BRIDGET?
I was a first trip Peggy on the Autolycus. I remember that we were loading Nitro glycerin for Singapore. The hatch boss found that the nitro was weeping into the #1 hold. We were moved to the outer roads of Falmouth, The wives onboard were sent ashore. Once we had everything stabilized we were allowed to go ashore to phone our families as the national television had covered the story. The thing I remember was the Captain asking us to just make a quick phone call and then return back to the ship via a lifeboat. I think we were all going to jump on a train and go back up to Liverpool. |

Autolycus and Saint Bridget
If you look on the website www.Ardrossanships.com for the date 14th February 1972 you will get the story of the Saint Bridget being blown up.
