What is this !! ??
I have recently been getting this popping up in my browser.
It refuses to disappear and prevents me from accessing websites .. including clydeside ... what is going on? It appears that certain websites will not allow me access any more ... Grrrr. Even accessing cached google pages. |

Looks to me like the old dial up access confirmation to get onto the net.

That is what I thought, but the page that opens next on the browser
is that I "do not have permission to access this page", and that I must contact the webmaster for the website to gain approval. This is nuts. All best, Raymond |

You haven't got any content blocking set have you?
That's the only thing I can think of. I've seen this before and the fact that I can't remember when & where is driving me mad. ![]() |

Thanks Kris ... I have been running this PC (ello ello ello)
for a year, and this is the first I have seen that little face. I have recently updated Windows, mind you, so maybe that is where he came from. Looks like I will have to do some more digging ... where's that shovel? ![]() |

Have you tried System Restore? Put your computer back to a time when you didn't have any problems and restore it to that point. It's solved all sorts of problems for me!

Thanks Trevor; despite all my calls for System Restore,
Recovery and Re-Install, I always leave that until the very last resort. In the end, I will have to do that I suppose. |

www.clydesite.co.uk is a genuine web site on Clyde ships and shipbuilding. This appears to be the logging in widow which I cannot understand why is appearing without you first visiting the site. It could be that a cookie is in your computer and prompting you. Have you ever visited the site, if you have thats probably when the cookie decided to live with you.
Try deleteing your cookies by going to Tools on your browser, selecting Internet Options - then select delete in the Browsing History the option to remove the cookies and temporary internet files will then be displayed. Good Luck Chris. |

Thanks Chris .. I have visited the site quite often over the years.
I am always clearing/updating my cookies (keep the important ones). I got the same little idiot dialogue box on the calculate your CO2 footprint. Maybe it is a Windows irritating new security feature? All Best, Raymond |

I have a C cleaner, amongst other things ... However, I have just tried
Toni Arts Registry Cleaner, got rid of 159 dead entries that everything else had left there ... I find Free Internet Washer the bees knees for handling Temp Internet Folder and especially the idiotic index.dat which grows to the point of absurdity otherwise. Takes the PC forever to read, and then write. After two days it was 2Gb !! Nuts. I think the panel was as a result of these security installations of the Windows update, and getting confused with older refs in the Registry. It seems to have gone. Best Wishes, Raymond |

Pays to do maintenance
![]() As an aside the same similar panel that popped up on my machine when I tried to access River Sea has disappeared of its own volition. There was an apology on River Sea mumbling about server problems and such ... |
