Great stuff - a well-deserved award!
RNLI deserves our support - and if you donate on a regular basis they can grab back some of the tax the Chancellor has nicked from you if you pay tax. Brian |

Well deserved - a very difficult rescue in awful conditions, I am disappointed that the crew are only getting Thanks of the Institution on Vellum.
- from all accounts they ended up being in great danger leaning over to pull the sailors to safety and without their actions lives could well have been lost. Medals all round would not have gone amiss and would certainly not have devalued the Coxswain's medal by any means. Those that also serve etc. Chris. |

I am afraid that's the way it works santos, one man cannot do the job himself i agree with you,if one has not got a good team on deck, then no one gets rescued!!The crew will get a wee silver badge along with their vellum certificates

This shout got a lot of media attention when it happened and deservably so. I know a few of the crew and they all said it was a hairy one. In the press it was quoted as a "once in a career" shout.
Here is a link to an account of the shout from the Torbay Lifeboat site. It has a little more detail than that on the RNLI site. Read from 'Full rescue scenario' about a third of the way down. http://www.torbaylifeboat.org.uk/citation.htm
