built 1919 Ayshire Dockyard Co at Irvine, lower Tyne. Owned by British and South American Steam Navigation Co Ltd and managed by R.P. Houston and Co , Liverpool. length 400 ft beam 52 ft moulded depth 31 ft draught loaded 25 ft GRT 5229 Single screw was driven by a 3 cylinder, triple expansion steam engine, max service speed 10 knots. copyright: Hempel A/S Copenhagen , 01/99 watercolour by: John Gardner (Scottish)
