Future of Black Prince in doubt
It is reported that the long serving Fred Olsen ship BLACK PRINCE has left Southampton for Venezuela under the intermediate name PRINCE. It is intended to rename her OLA ESMERALDA after she arrives in South America.
The intended future operation of the ship has, however, been banned by the Venezuelan Government because of environmental issues. The Venezuelan islands of Los Roques and La Tortuga are considered too sensitive for the number of passengers the ship can carry. Her new owner, Saveca, has been prohibited from advertising their intended Venezuelan domestic waters cruises. As the ship is not SOLAS 2010 compliant she will not be able to undertake international cruises. Fred |
