Super Puma

Another mechanical fault has been discovered with the AS332 and EC225 helicopters.

Problems have arisen with the 'fairing gutter' which diverts water away from the gearbox. Their is a fault with the rivets holding the gutter in place. The part has been found to detach from the aircraft and could interfere with the drive shaft, stop the tail rotor and leave the pilots unable to steer.

Bond, CHC and Bristows carrying out additional inspections of their fleets.

The European Aviation Safety Agency seems to be scrutinising every nut and bolt on these two types of aircraft.

Regards
Iain T
