Ravelston Steamship Company
Can anyone help with the funnel colour of the ships of this Edinburgh-based shipping company?
From the black-and-white photograph I have of the SS "Clermiston", which was one of their ships, I can see that the funnel was black with a band of some other colour in the middle (I would hazard a guess at red). I have searched online for sites which contain such information, but so far I have drawn a blank on Ravelston's ships. I am a marine artist, and occasionally I get asked to paint ships of a time long past, and this is one such occasion. My client's grandfather was a crewman on the SS "Clermiston". I look forward to hearing from you! Jim Tait www.tait-gallery.co.uk |
