Sad news indeed, a loss to us all. Richard was an 'Old Conway' and whilst I'm not certain who he sailed with I think it included P&O, Bank Line and Sealion . I will miss his viewpoints. Thoughts with his partner and family.
Did not know Captain Collinson except as one of the newer Bank Line masters who brought a better quality of command style to his ships that passed through the U.S. Gulf on the liner services. The company often greatly benefited by the superior professionalism brought in from outside and Captain Collinson was a fine example of this. Its a great irony that just when Bank Line were on the point of assembling as fine a cadre of officers represented by Captain Collinson to man their ships the entire enterprise was shut down!
I never sailed with richard collinson but he was one of those people you kept bumping into and pat and I you see him socially from time to time when we were in norwich a lovely guy will be much missed by his family and friends
