This Growing Fleet Of Little Ships.

Can I just say a big thanks to All the lads who have contributed to our YC/PAS/RMAS/SD category. Day by day old and new pictures are up-loaded and although I don't comment on all the pics. It is great to see them all, many of the vessels I've never even heard of. Of course my thanks also goes to SN for setting up this category and I'm sure they would agree that it has been a great success and well worth all their hard work. Many thanks to All the past and present YC/PAS/RMAS/SD sailors who have provided all the relevant information to the best of their knowledge. Keep on digging out those Old pics Boys, I am sure there are many more to come.

Totally agree Tony; there's a lot more out there somewhere. It's great to see the wealth of photos.

Alex if you see a pic in there just report it as in the wrong category, or have you already done that?. Can you recall which ones are in there?.

Well done Alex, I have also reported a few out of Ships Of Special purpose and Tugs and Harbour Craft. When You report Alex do you use the photo options top right of the pic you have up, I find it is the best way. Drop down the options and select In the wrong category and write below YC/PAS/RMAS Please.

I applaud your determination Alex. Good Man. I can see you are getting results as the total of pics is gradually increasing in the category.

I think they probably appreciate You doing that as it is tidying up the categories. The amount of pics in YC/PAS/RMAS has gone up to 1,341 now.

Yes Alex, I only know that because someone else mentioned it to me. I don't think any pics exist of her in her PAS livery. So I guess it is better left where it is.

It occurs to me that there were many photos of PAS/RMAS vessels/craft held at Directorate of Marine Services (Naval) [DMS(N)], some of which were ordinary photos and some were slides used for presentation purposes. The point is where are they all now? Anyone who worked at DMS(N) Bath or latterly at Pembroke Dock might be able to help. I worked at both but left some years before the final curtain came down. If anyone can help, then please do.

Mike, I got hold of a box of old pic's and scanned them, still have them tucked away. I think Mr Harding got hold of them as well as some of the pic's have been posted. What happened to them once PD closed is anyones guess though they should have gone back to Bath / Portsmouth.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for that, maybe one day we'll get to see them all posted up. The presentation slides were particularly good quality photos, they were kept in plastic sleeves in a lever arch file in the then registry, care of Flic. They would look good on this site.

If you remember the Marine Services School at Rosyth then you'll know they had a great collection of historical photos and films about moorings, salvage, boom defence, etc. I got much of the film stuff transferred to VHS before the film and video folk started charging for the service. All that stuff got transferred to Navy Bldgs at Greenock when the school went there before it was wound up. So who inherited it all I don't know but I would love to see some of those put into circulation. All obsolete stuff nowadays but worth preserving all the same. I wrote to Chief Salmo some time ago asking for info but got no reply!
