Mawana
Attached is a photo of the Mawana taken in 1965 in the Rangoon River.
This was at the time of one of many Indian-Pakistan border conflicts. I cannot recall the position of Mawana but Magdapur had a Calcutta cargo and a Pakistan crew so both ships were positioned off the neutral port of Rangoon to effect a crew change. Magdapur taking Mawana's Indian Crew. Despite the potential for some conflict the only casualties that I recall were the crew's cooking utensils that were dumped over the side. I was Snr 4th Eng on Magdapur at the time. |
