Manchester Liners
Hi Split
If you look at Gdynia's previous post and click on to the link provided ( Ian Combe) you will find a history of Manchester Liners and all of their ships. It was a good company, good feeders, plenty of overtime and short trips. I see that you have a Spanish flag alongside your name which reminds me of when I was on the "Manchester Vanguard". In the winter months when the Canadian lakes were iced up we ran down to the Canary Islands (Tenerife and Las Palmas) on charter to Yeoward Bros. Their funnel colours were the Spanish flag and we had to change the funnel over from Manchester Liners to Yeowards. What a performance, Manchester Dry docks put weld marks on the funnel to show where the new markings were to be but it was left to us to paint it. I have got a photo somewhere of the change over being made but unfortunately it is in black and white. Happy days. Trader. |
