Ship Registrations, Cornwall
I have yet to complete the final register of fishing vessels ( I have taken 11,000 photographs of the records so far, around 600 remain ), then will begin the labour of transcription. As I do this, I will commence photographing the Penzance Ship Registers. Other ports with the Cornwall Records Office are for Falmouth, Fowey, Hayle, Looe, Padstow, Scilly, St Ives and Truro. The Maritime Museum are already researching Falmouth Ships, Ian Banfield is working on the Registers for Scilly. I am prepared to complete all the Penzance Registers. I hope to add St Ives and Hayle ( as part of my pages on the Warren / Harveys cooperation ), If I am given time, then I will add the rest. This will take a LONG time. But, I hope to be able to refer and offer some kind of look-up response. I have a complete list of the British Ship Registers, and where they are now kept.
Best Wishes, Raymond |

A noble effort Raymond. I wish you every success in completing this. Apart from being an interesting record it will make the information available for research.

Hi Raymond
Interested to hear about your project. How far east does this go? Have attached a (poor) copy of a page from "The history of Frank C Strick, etc" published by the WSS in 1996 showing the one ship company North Devon Steamship Co Ltd owned personally by F C Strick. Let me know if your interested in a better copy Regards NigelC |

Hello and thanks for the encouragement, I just need the time!!
Penzance records cover 200 years, and I aim to finish it. Tel 01271-388608. email ndevrec@devon.gov.uk Merchant Shipping Barnstaple 1824-1986 Bideford 1786-1994 Ilfracombe 1824-1837 Fishing Vessel records Barnstaple 1903-1988 Bideford 1884-1988 I have an interest in all shipping covered by Devon and Cornwall, but, I fear I will have to concentrate on Penzance Registers first. The Index to the Penwith Shipping Registers has been started.
Penzance 1830 - 1855 now online. Over 200 vessels listed. Some from Canada and even one from Calcutta. If anyone would like details of any vessel shown, please write to me, giving the Register Number, (in this case, PENZ_02) followed by the Name of the vessel, Folio Number and the Image Number. http://freepages.family.rootsweb.com...ll/srindex.htm best wishes, Raymond |
