Fort St. Catherine

I was R/O on this when she came out of the shipyard at Monfalcone Italy mid 1966. At that time at about 80,000 GRT she was largest Diesel powered tanker in the world (I believe). Largest tanker was about 120,000 then.
Does anyone know what happened to her?

Hello - I was also on the maiden voyage of the Fort St Catherine, flew out to Genoa to join her as a young assistant steward 2 days before my birthday in October 66, paid off in Tilbury, I remember thinking she was cheaply built, the accommodation was so thin you could hear the person in the next cabin breathing (not snoring)

That's strange. I was told (George Hay? any way but one who had sailed on her) that she was one of the first two Italian crewed tankers, on the same run as Stonehaven (ex Hopepark) the other being ex Warwick Fort (taking the Shah's oil to Eilat). That would have been between 72 and 75. Later in that period we were joined by a newer VLCC - all Liberian flag? Don't recognise any of above ex names as either of these. Named after big cats if I've got it right.
