I was on the Kano when she went tramping, joined her at Falmouth for an 8 week trip, jumped her after 8 months. Never did get to West Africa. Regards janathull

Think that was before Palm Line and they were known as United Africa Company. She did become a Palm Line boat when they transferred over.

I think it became the Opobo Palm and I sailed on her too.
I have never eaten margarine since my days on these palm oil carriers ,not that I cared for it before either.
I heard a tale like that but maybe it was to srtop us pilfering the cargo!!!!!
