Ron Springett has died aged 80.

The Sheffield Wednesday stalwart played 345 games for the club. He was capped 33 times by England. He was a member of the 1966 World Cup winning squad, finally being awarded a winner's medal in 2009 by Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
He had a poor game against Scotland at Wembley on April 15th 1961, letting in 3 goals.
On that day, England scored 9!

I saw Alex Young put three past him when Everton thrashed Sheffield Wednesday 5-1 in August 1965. And yet he was a good keeper and made some great saves in that game.
