Having spent some time looking around the site since registering earlier this year it's finally time to introduce myself. I'm Chris Allport, a semi-retired ex master mariner now resident in France. served my time as apprentice with Port Line, then moved to Cunard as 3/0/D, where I finished on the ACL vessels in 1971. After passing Masters in early 1972, I joined Esso Marine UK and sailed on thier intermediate fleet of product tankers until 1979, the final two years as Master. I remained ashore with Exxon/Essofor the next 23 years in a variety of marine functions accepting an offer to retire early in 2002. Since then I have lived in France and run a part-time marine consultancy specialising in helping shipowners/operators to improve their safety management systems in conformance with TMSA.

Look forward to renewing some acquaintances thru this forum.
