Hi does anyone here have any information on the City of Johannesburg, my father Joseph (joe) Daly from Ireland was an apprentice engineer for ellerman and he sailed on this ship in 1956, unfortunetly he passed away very young in 1978 and I'd love to hear from anyone who may have sailed with him,

Hi Mike,
I am currently looking for information on the same ship and associated crew. My grandfather was chippy on this ship around the same time. Unfortunately I don't have the exact dates. I do have a picture of what might be some of the crew at that time if you would like to peruse.
Regards, Dave.

Hi Dave,
Amazing to hear you have a picture of some of the crew, Id love to see it just to see if my Dad is in it.
Apparently it was the last Ship to sail up the Suez canal before the canal closed in 1956 or 57 during the crisis.
my email is [email protected] working in Zambia originally from Ireland
