Attached (I hope) are pics of Lagos Yacht Club around 1951(probably taken from one of ED's Mail boats and one of the "Apapa" in 1949
Does anyone have any old pics of Lagos harbour.
Would particularly like to see any of the long gone Customs Wharf near Kingsway store.

Here's a very bad quality shot of Apapa in 1970, with Dalla alongside.

Good stuff Richard. The dock master probably worked at a few UK factories of my remembrance.

Re #3. Often wondered how many of those paper rolls were usable in the end what with labour in Lagos and previous ports tearing them apart as toilet paper.

Also remember the cargoes of Asepso soap, whiskey and Becks beer or Heineken.
Wonderful challenge as a cadet to be told " stop the pilfering".

On Dalla, we were on the US East Coast run, and a lot of cargo to West Africa was used clothing. The wharfies would go down the hatch wearing just underwear and come up with three or four full suits of clothes on.

Not at Lagos, but this photo shows Dalla approaching port somewhere in West Africa, 1970, with very old Greyhound buses on deck for Greyhound Nigeria.

Think this was in Lagos harbour back in the mid 1970s.
