Greetings to you all. Hoping for some new contacts from my time at sea 1959 - 1970 especially if ex-Warsash cadet 1959, Furness Prince Lines, Dagleish or Palm Line. Now retired I have a bundle of memories to share.
NB My username Topherjohn was a family nickname derived fom Christopher John (Clarke) - obviously not a good choice as everyone is calling me John instead of Chris! My mistake - I notice from FAQs it can't be changed now.
Anyway thanks to you all for your welcoming messages.

Welcome aboard from the NE of Scotland John.

I'm sure you will find some ex-shipmates and plenty of photographs and stories on the site.

Welcome aboard from East Yorkshire.
I'm sure you'll find some among the crew who sailed for the same companies.
I was with Daggie's for a couple of trips on the Oakworth but after you swallowed the anchor.
Find your way around the ship, plenty to see.
Enjoy the trip.

John, from Michigan, a warm welcome to Ships Nostalgia.
Chances are you'll be hearing from old shipmates before long.
Make yourself at home and enjoy all we have to offer.

Bruce

Thanks for the warm welcome. mv Ravensworth 1963 was my first ship as 3/O after passing 2nd Mates. I shan't forget second voyage in a hurry! En route to Oxelosund nightmare of a Master "7 sheets to the wind" disappeared from bridge when I was escorting Helsingborg pilot down to maindeck for disembarkation! Back up on the bridge the volume of traffic on the buoyed route scared the daylights out of me! Due to several similar incidents the Master, who shall remain nameless, was sacked. It certainly was an eye-opener, after which I left Dagleish and joined Palm Line.

Welcome from Lancashire.

I hope you will enjoy the site.

Don't worry about the name - just sign yourself as Chris on your posts. Many members start by using anonymous usernames and later go on to sign with their real names (well not always - mine is really Alice) :)

Regards,

Brian
