The Gillie's introduction

The Gillie
4th October 2008, 19:04
First went to sea in 1971 as an engineer? with BP and on the mighty supertanker that I sailed on was given the nickname of the Gillie which I have used as a nom-de-plume ever since

Came to this site by looking for some information on the British Diplomat, but am now wondering what I have let myself in for.

I'm confused.com, no sorry I'm The Gillie.

Welcome aboard, Gillie.
You'll find plenty of BP lads in the crew.
It's very addictive so explore the ship with care and enjoy the ship.

A Gillie is a Scottish gamekeeper, an honourable profession, just like an engineer. There are different spellings ie Ghillie, ghilly, gilly. I am confused.

To sail on a VLCC as an engineer makes you slightly confused, more than slightly!!

Welcome.
