Hello everyone,
My name is John and I did one trip on the lobito palm as JOS from 17th March -1971 to 26th of May-71
I think Tommy was the bosun. The only guy i'd ever seen splice big wire without a vice. The only other AB i can remember was a guy nicknamed (plum) anyone remember him ? A trip to remember that was!!

Welcome aboard, John.
Quite a few Palm Line lads in the crew to renew acquaintance with.
Find your way around the ship and join in.
Enjoy the trip.

Welcome aboard John -
Sadly Tommy Parkin the Bosun of Lobito Palm for 11 years has crossed the bar.He was a good pal of mine for nearly 50 years..
Plum Spencer became a rigger and I believe he is still in the job.
Lobito Palm arrived Tilbury 12th March 1971 and discharged cargo -finished on 17th - day you joined her.
She sailed 10pm for Southampton to load cargo..
I worked her as a rigger during her time at Tilbury and must have seen you..
Regards Stan

John,

A warm welcome to the site from the Isle of Anglesey, I guarantee you will thoroughly enjoy the SN experience!
You will certainly spark many happy memories when you have a chance to explore our threads and, who knows, you may even re-establish contact with old shipmates.
Good luck! (Thumb)
