I EVERYONE . in the 60,s i sailed on the tug irishman.skipper was jack golden . Has anyone got any information on what became of her .I see her sister ship welshman is still on the go. any infor would be appreciated thanks. All the best PAUL STOVIN.

Hi Paul
I was on the Irishman with Jack Golden in the 60's. George Bartlett was mate. I really don't what happened to her, probably scrapped by now. Jack became skipper of the 'John Ross' for Safmarine and went to live in Capetown where sadly he crossed the bar.

T.3-cyl. (14", 24" & 40" x 27") made by Earle's Shipbuilding & Engineering Company Ltd., Hull. 89 NHP. 850 IHP.

26.1.1929: Launched by Cochrane & Sons Ltd., Selby (Yard No. 1041), for the United Towing Company Ltd., Hull.

4.1929: Completed.

8.5.1941: Exploded a mine and sank in Portsmouth Harbour. Subsequently raised and repaired.

1961: Sold to Rimorchiatori Sardi S.p.A., Italy, and renamed GENNARGENTU.

1965: Renamed BONARIA.

1986: Demolished.

20.2.1973: Sold to United Towing (Irishman) Ltd., (United Towing (Ocean Tugs) Ltd., managers), Hull.

1974: Sold to Star Offshore Services (Tugs) Ltd., (same managers).

1976: Sold to Guybulk Shipping Ltd., Bermuda, and renamed KWAKWANI.

1978: Sold to International Towing Ltd. (ITL), London, and renamed LORNA B.

1981: Sold to Standard Towing Ltd., Vancouver, and renamed PACIFIC STANDARD.

2001: Sold to McKeil Workboats (McKeil Marine Ltd., managers), Hamilton, Ontario.

6.2008: Still in service.
