Greetings Hastieman! How long ago were you with Bolton?? I knew many of their engineers in the 50s, particularly Chief Eng Finden (the painter) and others. Welcome to the site and we look forward to you posting some of your pix. Kind regards, Doug H

Welcome to sn Hastieman. From your handle I presume a connection with steering gear, and saw in another post you had carried out repairs on a ships gear - welcome indeed !

Hello Hastieman. I sailed as an apprentice on the Ramsay to East London SA in 1960 - its last voyage before it was sold to the Baksh line(?). We were told that Sir Frederic (Tim) Bolton sold it to buy a chicken farm in Oxford. They also said the ship sunk after leaving a dry dock in India. With the Ramsay, I could believe anything. Sir Frederic died a couple of months back.
