Welcome aboard, Fred. Trust you will enjoy the site and take an active role in it.
SCOTTISH MONARCH is listed in my Lloyds Register of 1972-73 as HOPING WU SHI WU and owned by The Peoples Republic of China.
Other name changes listed: to DEMETRIUS D.S. in 1957, to WISHFORD in 1958, and HOPING WU SHI WU in 1959.
Her continued existence would have to be in considerable doubt - probably broken up in China.

Thanks for the replies, I have passed on the info. to my brother.

I sailed on th " Cairnesk " , " Cairndhu " , " King James " and many others , also the Southern Harvester " whaling 1953/54.

I wish we could all do it again, but those days are long gone. I think todays young lads would have enjoyed it as mush as we did.

following sea to you all,

Fred. (Applause)

1974 "Ho Ping 55", 1979 "Zhan Dou 55", deleted from Lloyd's Register1984/1985, presumably scrapped in the PRC.

Scottish Monarch was operated by Harrisons (Clyde) during the 60's.
Sailed as fist mate for a year trading out far east between Japan/Australia/Nauru/NZ.
Think it was sold to Greek shipping interests and had a major engine failure.
Great intrest show by ex Scots when we wer in Oz and N.Z..
Lots of parties.
Only mates and engineers were from UK rest from HK.
Long trips as I was there over year and wife not happy about it.
