I joined the SS Frumenton as a first trip apprentice in June 1961. I have fond memories of the Malt Shovel in Hull and the great shipmates I first met at that pub.
Did anyone else spend time with Chapmans in the '60s?

Welcome to the crew.
I'm sure there are some lads onboard the ship who sailed for Chapmans.
Find your way around and enjoy the trip.

Hello Arthur,
I did not realize that trip on the Merton was 12 months. I was 3rd mate. Remember Chalky and Malcolm and the Old man, Clacky Nashers?
Was the Merton formerly the Thistledhu? I think you and I had a falling out and if I did not do so already I would like to apologize.

Regards,

Philip.
