Hi, I'm David from Australia.

I was wondering if anyone has any history on previous owners or information about the sloop or nepal known as Peggy. She is named in a testament dative in 1796 as belonging at the time to Captain Alexander Fraser of Peterhead. The Captain's first wife was Christian Arbuthnot, daughter of Thomas Arbuthnot, known as "the old Baillie"

I will just note that Falconer's Marine Dictionary of 1815 does not have any entry for the word "nepal", and I must admit doubt as to a vessel termed as such ever existing. Could it be a misspelling?

Try searching here: http://www.lrfoundation.org.uk/public_education/reference-library/register-of-ships-online/

You may find it very helpful to understand the abbreviations etc at the beginning of each volume, so you know what you're looking at. It's also worth bearing in mind that 'your' Peggy may or may not have been entered in the registers.
