I'm a novelist looking for a likely name for the tramp steamer my grandmother boarded to cross from New York to Gibraltar in 1934. Any ideas for me? So glad this forum exists!

Hi, from Oz! I recently had occasion to research the name Eggleton, which is a very old English name.
Eggletons emigrated from England and some settled in New York. At the time, I wondered if there was a ship with the name SS Eggleton and was surprised to find none listed on the web.
It would be a fitting name for a ship of that era, though there would be many others also suitable.

Cheers,

Taff
