When the pioneer ocean container ships of OCL’s Encounter Bay class entered into the Europe – Australia service in 1969, they were 29,262 dwt giants able to carry 1,762 TEU. I see that Maersk has taken delivery of lead ship of a new class of Baltic – Rotterdam feeder ships. The Vistula Maersk is 42,000 dwt with a 3,596 TEU capacity.
