Hi All, Went to the Vindi from Jan/62 till Mar/62, spent three months as deck-boy on my first ship the ore carrier Joya McCance, out of South Shields, running to Narvik and Seven Islands. Finaly jumped ship in 1969 in Sydney when I was on the Aranda, moved to Canada 1970, now retired and live in Hope BC Canada, I recently obtained my records from the National Archives in Kew London and it's great browsing this site and my records and reliving the memories of those navy days.

Hi Heathenscot.
Just a few lines to welcome you aboard.
I also was at the Vindi,in Nov/Dec.1952,
cant remember a thing about my time
there,names,faces,nothing just how cold
it was.The Vindicatrix Reunion,which is
held every year took place over the past
weeken,7th/8th/9th August.There was a
very good turnout this year, not sure of the
exact figure but they reckon there was in
excess of six hundred, and the weather was
realy warm, there were ex Vindi Boys there
from all over the U.K,plus Australia,New Zealand
U.S.A and Canada and many other Countries.
I also run in and out of Varvik on the Orelia one
of Houlder Bros fleet of ore carriers sailing out
from Port Talbot.
If you ever get a bit of spare time on your hands
please drop me a line as I would love to hear from
you again.

Hi Idris.
You must have strong Welsh connections with
a name like yours?,Im from Llanelli and was at
the Vindi in Nov.1952.I also did my first trip on
a BP tanker, out from Swansea. My first ships was
the British Pioneer, then later on I also sailed on
the Resource,Envoy,Duke and Hero.To join the
Vindicatrix Association, just click on the the site
under that name and your away. The Annual Reunion
was held over this weekend Fri/Sat/Sun,but I only
stayed for the Fri/Sat.The weather was first class
and the turn out was over 600 ex Vindi boys from all
over the World,if you join the Vindi Assc and ever get
the chance of going to one of these weekends, grab it.
I hope that you are keeping well and please give my
regards to your Family.

Hi again Dave from [W.A.] how are you and your family keeping ?. Sorry I missed you this year, I was in Florida for 6 months from Nov 08 to may09 but on my (our) way back to Oz via J.F.K. we had a bit of a problem with late planes [JetBlue] etc so missed out on catching up with you. Whilst surffing the web I had a look on your road/street using Google [cameras] it showed a house being built close to you ???. Also looking at another email I saw a ref to M. Boughan. Was this Tiger from our squad with 2x London addresses ?. All the best for now Vidiboy -Jim Spratt [ jrsxristol ] Hi HS
