Seeking any D.E.M.S. survivors from WW2

hello. have finally negotiated my way round the computer and am trying to find information on my father who was a lance bombadier in 1st regiment maritime royal artillery 1939 to end of war. he was in D.E.M.S. and I have found a letter where he states his was the second ship into Singapore after the surrender. He writes of three japanese generals coming aboard complete with swords and of prisoners of war and natives on the docks to whom the crew threw cigarettes and loaves of bread. The letter was censored so I do not know the name of the ship. He was in Italy Greece, India, Karachi, Canada, Australia, Burma and others but never spoke of his war service. I would love to know some history for our sons. can anyone help please ?

Welcome aboard from East Yorkshire, Mary.
The crew are very good at this sort of thing so hopefully they'll come up with some answers for you.
Meanwhile find your way around our ship and have an enjoyable voyage.
