Hi All, My Name is Mike Davies and I live in Swansea Wales and I'm researching my Family History and need some help finding the voyage of his ship the S S Dalcross 1933 - 1935
My father Samuel Thomas Oscar Davies was a cabin boy on this ship and it sailed around the world during these years. I once saw on line the ships log showing the ports and dates that the Dalcross called at but I can no longer find this website. I have a pay docket of my fathers which show that he was in Vladivostok, Kobe, Dunedin, Sydney, Durban, Las Palmas and Cardiff. From recollection the website said that the Dalcross was in Bermuda and Montreal and there is a photo of the ship in Vancouver.
If anyone can suggest where I can find the details of this voyage I would be extremely grateful.
Many Thanks
Mike Davies

To obtain the most detailed information on the voyages of the Dalcross, the best bet is to consult Lloyd's List newspaper. I'm not sure but I think these can be consulted on microfiche or microfilm at the Guildhall Library in London. Unfortunately the years you want are not yet covered by British Newspapers online - https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/ but you may find some other information there. It would also be worth searching The Times newspaper, best done through your local library, as there may be reports there too. Finally, crew agreements (though not logbooks) for this ship are as follows: 1933 - UK National Archives - http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ ; 1934: Maritime History Archive - https://www.mun.ca/mha/holdings/searchcombinedcrews.php and for 1935 - UK National Maritime Museum. On the front page of these agreements is listed dates of engagement, description of voyage and employment, and termination of voyage. You'll need the ship's Official Number, which was 161546.
